Xbox Game Pass is serious competition against PS Now

Okay, I think we can all agree when we say the Xbox Game Pass has proven to be the most notable subscription service in all of the gaming world, and this is because of the cleverness of Xbox and their executives, Xbox Game Pass is now some serious competition against anything Sony PlayStation has to offer, let us walk through how they did this — taking the entire gaming community by storm.

The first appearance of the Game Pass was first mentioned around 2017, where Microsoft revealed that its new Xbox One game subscription service will be available on June 1st. Called Game Pass, the service was first announced back in February, and it offers access to more than 100 Xbox One and 360 games for $9.99 per month.

PlayStation Now, which offers streaming for a range of games, Game Pass will let subscribers download the included games. They’ll also have the option to purchase titles at a discount if they want. The current lineup includes games like Halo 5 and Gears of War 3, and Microsoft says it will continue to grow over time. “Each month, Xbox Game Pass will add a new set of games to the catalog so there is always something new to play across a diversity of experiences, genres, ratings, and more,” the company says.

Many didn’t really understand what this meant, the gaming community was speculative of what Microsoft had in mind, and even Rock-star games (creator of the GTA series) told Microsoft they weren’t so sure of this move.

Xbox Game Pass Acquisition Of Bethesda

To be honest, the Game Pass already had sick games, but the wizards at Xbox knew in other to up their game a lot of gamers need high profile games, and Xbox needed exclusives, because we all know the Halo : infinite wasn’t cutting it, so Microsoft sought to acquire ZeniMax Media inc the parent company of Bethesda Game Studios.

Microsoft has announced plans to purchase ZeniMax Media Inc in a $7.5 billion acquisition deal. The holding company is the parent of a number of game publishers including Bethesda Game Studios, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames and Tango Gameworks.

Once approved, the deal will bring a range of high profile titles under Microsoft’s banner including Fallout, Doom and the highly anticipated upcoming release Starfield. It will also bring Bethesda’s existing titles to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming service with new releases to be added on the same day they launch for Xbox and PC.

The Bethesda Game Studios was finalized on the 9th of March and immediately added a sweet 20 games to the Game Pass, this for sure increased the hype for their service, and a lot of Bethesda Game Studio fans joined the streaming service, this is what Pil Spencer had to say, and it really just proves the whole point, Microsoft was going big brain.

“This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community,” says Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer. “With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”

The Numbers Don’t Lie

I promise, this article isn’t to start any war on Xbox being a better console, because this isn’t even about consoles in the first place, it’s just to show how at the Launch of the Xbox Series X Xbox had little to no exclusives, and they made a clever move to attract millions of subscribers, and sit at the top of a lot of exclusives coming to Xbox in the future.

The number of Xbox Game Pass Subscribers is a whooping 18 MILLION people. and PS Now sits at 2.2 Million, the 1000 IQ played by Microsoft here is super surprising, and Xbox Game Pass is now a force to be reckoned with, even Sony will have to go big brain to defeat the giant.
